Tomb of Tự Đức

It's morning in Hue and today we have rented a river boat for a trip up the Perfume River to the Tomb of Tự Đức. The tomb was built for the Nguyễn Emperor Tự Đức and took three years to build from 1864–1867. It is divided into a Temple Area and a Tomb Area.

Our plan is to head off early and motor up the river visiting the Thien Mu Pagoda, perched on a bluff overlooking the river and then mooring at spot on the river near the tomb and taking a couple of motorcycles up to the tomb itself.

A pensive moment as we motor up the river
