Project Files - Updated 0601

The supplied zip file contains an updated project folder that in turn contains a number of folders, assets, panoramas and project files. Changes made in the update include:

  • Removing Thumbmap folder from the “assets” folder

  • Changed name of in-situ folder to “output_locality_name

  • Addition of a “To_Upload” folder containing a folder called “map”.

  • The “map” folder currently contains 3 thumbmaps but should hold all the maps required for the entire website.

Updated Project Folder 0601

Old Project Folder

In the following steps we will open the Pano2VR file, output the project and test the “slideshow” functionality.

1. Double click on the base-chicken.p2vr to open it.

2. In the Output panel we are outputting to the in-situ folder, also located within the project folder, using the skin dbain_skin_hideurl_2025.ggsk

3. This skin is designed to hide the long string of variables when the new location opens.

4. To access the thumbmap images we need to add the “map” folder containing the images to the project

5. Open the Properties - Web Output > Advanced tab and scroll down to the Assets section

6. Click on the “+” button and select “Add Folder”

7. Navigate to the To_Upload folder and click on the “map” folder

8. The “map” folder is added to the Assets folder list

4. The Edit Skin Configuration window has been modified to test the various functions that allow us to navigate between tours and back to the main site.

Note: As I’m testing from a remote site I’m using the base URL 360panos.com

5. I’ve added the name of the thumbmap image for this region in the Tumbmap Image field.

Updated Edit Skin Configuration with a default map zoom and Thumbmap Image field.

4. Output the project

Update 0601: Vertical dots in the menu have been aligned, spanner button has alternate text, reduced map pins, previous/next locality open on the first node.

In the Edit Skin Configuration changing the name of the Thumbmap button changes the image loaded in the Output.

5. Clicking through the nodes using “previous or next 360” buttons will take you to either last node in delta-junction or first node tok-cutoff depending upon the buttons you are using.

6. Clicking on either “previous or next locality” buttons will take you to the first node in either delta-junction or tok-cutoff depending upon the buttons you are using

Note: this will be available when the nodes in the locations have had their Custom Node ID’s updated to last and first

7. Clicking on the “go to region” button will take you to the Northern and Interior Alaska page

8. Clicking on the “go to home” button will take you to the Alaska and Western Canada section as will clicking on the Main Title.

Note: the same applies to the “arrow” buttons

This is a walkthrough showing how to apply the new skin to an existing tour. In this example I’ll be using the supplied sample locality, “Chicken”.

The only requirement is the new skin dbain_skin_hideurl_2025.ggsk

Original Tour Setup

1. Make a backup copy of the original Pano2VR project

2. Open the original project in Pano2VR

3. Open the Properties - Web Output > HTML menu and click on the small screwdriver/hammer button

3. Uncheck “Add Cache buster query parameter:” and select OK

Note: this is very important as the Slideshow will not work properly if its checked.

4. Change the current Skin alaska-northern-interior 2025-03-23.ggsk to dbain_skin_2025.ggsk

5. Save the Project

6. Click on the Edit Skin Configuration button

7. This opens the Edit Skin Configuration window

New Edit Skin Configuration

8. Add the following entries

  • Parent Region: = alaska-northern-interior

  • Previous Locality: = delta-junction

  • Current Locality: = chicken

  • Next Locality: = tok-cutoff

New Edit Skin Configuration with entries

9. Select OK

10. Save the Project

11. Publish the Project

Note: the project opens and everything works as expected. All the relevant data for the Caption and More Info panel entered in the original version is applied to their respective elemens.

Note: However when we open the map there are no points to be seen. In the original version supplied the panoramas have no Longitude or Latitude entries. In addition the Altitude is incorrect.

12. Enter the following Latitude and Longitude values for the nodes

  • 2010-08-30-09 BoundaryRoadBlock = (lat) 64.07804643 (long) -141.10660717

  • 2010-08-31-02 DowntownChicken = (lat) 64.07093881 (long) -141.94192176

  • 2010-08-31-03 ChickenCreekSaloon = (lat) 64.07094820 (long) -141.94233482

  • 2010-08-31-01 ChickenPedroDredge = (lat) 64.07068542 (long) -141.93814215

13, Update the Altitude (WGS84): = 511 meters

14. Save the project

15. Output the project

Note: now when we open the Map or the More Info panel the marker points are displayed and the Latitude and Longitude data is shown.

At this point the update is finished. To see a final version in-situ click on the link below.

Note: the application of data in tours needs to be entered into the same User Data locations as the ones used in Chiken. If not then the elements will not be populated correctly.
