National Railway Museum

It's fascinating the places you find in Adelaide. Our dear friends Gita, Gavin and baby Aston arrived in Adelaide for a long weekend and I'd asked Gavin if he had any particular spots he wanted to visit. Amongst the eclectic list was the National Railway Museum located in Port Adelaide.

Most of you know from my posts about the Pichi Richi Railway that I'm a bit of a train lover so I jumped at the chance to visit the museum. We were very lucky to have the place almost to ourselves with only one or two other parties visiting at the same time. You don't realise the extent of the museum until you actually enter it and it is quite extensive with a huge range of rolling stock from steam engines to diesel and working carriages to luxury dining cars.

The first panorama is located just inside the museum and it's a replica of an old railway ticketing office with Arrivals and Departures board.
