Wellesley Studios - Auckland - View fullpage version
On the way to join the Ponant L'Austral, for my recent photography project, I had the opportunity to catch up with my dear friend Katrina Todd. It had been many years since we'd seen each other and as the ship set sail from Auckland it was the perfect opportunity to catch up.
The morning before I left I was fortunate to have the opportunity to visit Katrina's remarkable dance studio, Wellesley Studios. Built in a converted 60's printing warehouse she has put so much blood, sweat and tears into it's development. It is an amazing location and a testament to her hard work and vision.
The dance house aims to provide a dedicated space for development, collaboration, creativity, connections and conversation for dance artists and the community.
Katrina converted the 1960s warehouse, located in central Auckland, and it comprises of three large, well equipped studios close to public transport and parking on the edge of the theatre district. The studios provide spaces for rehearsals, workshops and classes for both the professional dance sector and the community, as well as residency programmes.
I've taken a number of 360˚ panoramas of the facilities and I'll be posting them as they are finished.
If you are interested in the studios visit the Wellesley website.
