"The saddest moment is when the one who gave you the best memories ... becomes a memory"
Who know how much our lives would change the day we saw your wanted poster online.
The moment Kelly saw you she was determined to rescue you. Little did we know that you were also about to rescue us.
My wanted poster
You let me know you were on the way
As you were coming up for adoption the next morning we wanted to be first inline. So we dropped everything, jumped in the car and headed for Woodend, Victoria. After a chilly stopover in Nhill we were first in line and fell in love with him straight away.
Due to a strange regulation in regard to his inoculation/neutered we had to return to Adelaide empty handed and return in a week. In the end we travelled over 2,700 kilometers before you were safe at home with us. Oh and boy did you fart a lot on the way back!!
Here I am, in the car, secured for the trip back to Adelaide
In those early days, while you were still learning your manners, you tried so hard to please us. All you wanted was to make your new humans proud.
I don’t seem quite sure what’s going on yet.
You were an unapologetic, nugget of a love bomb that came bounding into our lives. You had so much love to give and just wanted to be loved in return.
You could jump like a Maasai warrior, split a lip (or two or three) with your kisses, and managed to bruise a few cheeks. You even got your teeth a little too involved in nose-kisses.
I’m a Massai warrior when there’s a treat in the air
Every day you brought so much love into our lives bounding up onto the bed to make sure we knew it was the BEST DAY EVER!
I wanted you to wake up but you pretended to sleep.
You had a spark, joy, absolute exuberance for life .. every day, every experience, every moment not to mention those endless walks you would take us on…
Come on dad, it’s only another 4 kilometres
digging in tree trunks…
You couldn’t resist a good tree trunk
exploring new places (new sniffies!)…
Brownhill creek was one of your goto favourite places
your absolute joy of running on the beach, trying to 'catch' waves…
Dogs? meh! Humans were your thing.
And you certainly gave us some heartstopping moments we'll never forget... gave us some heartstopping moments we will never forget, running off into the distance after some faint smell only to have us spend anxious moments trying to find you, the day you crawled into an water pipe that run under the park finally to popup in a distant rain drain and your stubborn refusal to cross that old swing bridge over the river.
You refused to go any further, I don’t think you thought this thing was safe!
And oh how you loved your nommies (okay, an unfathomable obsession with food!), lived for treats …
Hmm mine?
I loved the puppaccino with Peanut Butter
and luxuriated in sun-filled snoozes.
Life is good
As the years went on and you went through the wars, you kept pushing through. You did it for us, didn't you?
It really did get in the way
You weren't done showing us you were the bestest boy ever...and you were but as we all got older it slowed us down.
Flat out
You made us better people, and we were honoured to be your humans.
I love to hang out
Adios little buddy, you will be in our hearts always.
I’m always watching
A huge thank you.
Throughout Ringo’s life there were many who cared for him and were there when we needed them.
To the team at Unley Veterinary Surgery and especially Dr. Kylie Green who, I know, loved the little nugget as much as we did. Even though in one slightly dazed moment coming out of surgery he bit her finger!
We couldn’t have made it through without you.
